Boxing Day Cup

Image for Boxing Day Cup

Melbourne is not the only place for cricket on Boxing Day! Adelaide’s finest musicians, The Rockatoos, will again go head to head with the state’s best Bartenders, The Eagle Blues, in one of the greatest sporting traditions never known. In 2014, Anth Wendt, aka Oisima, steadied The Rockatoos’ ship with an impressive 97 runs and led them to victory over an Eagle Blues side that fell an agonizing 5 runs short.

The stakes are higher this year, the moustaches bushier and the mullets longer. The Eagle Blues have spent twelve months licking their wounds, practicing their off spin and concocting their lineup while the Musicians have been basking in the glory and honing their sledging. Their entire year of writing songs, playing live at venues where many of the Eagle Blues have been pouring drinks has led to this one day. A year defining match. The Boxing Day Cup. A cricket match for the ages!

The teams will feature a raft of new faces hitting sixes and taking wickets, along with the old steed. There will be a bar set up and drinks by Young Henrys & Primo Estate Wines on the day. A BYO attitude is also encouraged and there will be a live broadcast from Radio Adelaide that you can listen to on the way to the ground. There’s free WiFi by EcoCaddy, hot food & a BBQ, plus merchandise, a great raffle full of local products, with all proceeds being donated to Reclink Australia, and moderately less partisan umpiring and significantly more sledging.

Join the sledging online with #BDC15!
